What we do

The playscheme is designed to support children in the local area to play and learn in the presence of others in a safe and child-friendly environment.

It’s all about fun and encouraging the children and young people to learn and develop their skills through playing with others.

We hope they have a brilliant time making friends and learning new skills as part of the South Gloucestershire Playscheme.

“This year so many children will benefit from this! My children love it!”

Coming soon 25 – 29 October 2021

In October half term 2021 we’ll be running free family events where the children and parents can come along and carve pumpkins, take part in arts and crafts and games.

We will be in Patchway and Yate for this series of activities. Plus, Patchway also have a theatre show by Bristolian Productions ‘Hansel & Gretel’.

There’s limited availability but click here to see if there are spaces at the venue and day of your choice.

Otherwise, join the wait list and we’ll let you know if cancellation spaces become available.

Many of the activities undertaken encourage learning and creative play. Each location has a team leader with four play workers who bring different skills to their group.

This year we offer themed weeks with special events that circulate each of the venue. You can see the detail on Ticket Tailor.

This year’s themed events include Robots, Olympics, Fairy Tale, ‘Mini Beasts’, Wild World, and Heroes.

We encouraged children to take part in the South Gloucestershire Libraries Summer Reading Challenge.  Children read books alongside us each week and do art & crafts in relation to the book they have read to receive stickers and rewards.

When we recruit staff to the play-scheme, we try and spread this skill base around so that all sites are equipped with a variety of skilled staff.

However, it may be worth checking out different locations to see how they do things differently or to experience their approach to dance, sport, painting and games.
