What we do

The playscheme is designed to support children in the local area to play and learn in the presence of others in a safe and child-friendly environment.

It’s all about fun and encouraging the children and young people to learn and develop their skills through playing with others. Many of the activities undertaken encourage learning and creative play.

Each location differs, but we pride ourselves on inspiring children with a mix of activities including:

Creativity and crafts

Performing arts

Team play and puzzles

Outdoor and indoor games

Dressing up

Face painting

Summer Holiday 2022 Playscheme

We’re ready for this years’ summer holiday fun days. Weather dependent it will take place in a mix of indoors and outdoors. Venues, dates and activities are confirmed and booking is open at Ticket Tailor.

We have new themed weeks with specific events that circulate each of the venues. This years’ themes are Silly Sports, Around The World, Superheros and Villians, Under The Sea.

We also have visitors attending on special event days giving amazing circus skills, a hysterical puppet and magic show, fun library and Bloodhound LSR.  Keep an eye on our Facebook page for which themed weeks are where.

We hope your children have a brilliant time making friends and learning new skills as part of the South Gloucestershire Playscheme.

This is the only club my son will attend.  He loves the staff and all of the activities.  Thank you so much!”

Our staff bring different play skills

Each location has a team leader with three play workers who bring different skills to their group. So when we recruit staff to the play-scheme, we try and spread this skill base around so that all sites are equipped with a variety of skilled staff.

However, it may be worth checking out different locations to see how they do things differently or to experience their approach to dance, sport, painting and games.

Youth Work Training Opportunities at the Playscheme

Having fun, qualified and professional Youth Workers running the play sessions is the corner stone of what we do.

This is why we also deliver Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles and Level 3 Diploma Youth Work Practice courses, which are accredited by the NOCN – National Open College Network.  In fact, 17 learners have already passed the Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles with some continuing on to the Level 3 Diploma. My daughter loves coming and is sad that this is her last year.

South Gloucestershire Playscheme is a small charity that values its staff.  Our staff work hard and deserve to be paid accordingly.  Working with children can be challenging at times, but can be rewarding too.  The pay should also be rewarding.
