Youth work training opportunities at the Playscheme

Having engaging, qualified and professional Youth Workers delivering our playscheme is the corner stone of what we do.

This is why we deliver Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles and Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice courses, which are accredited by the NOCN – National Open College Network.  The Level 3 Diploma is also endorsed by the JNC (Joint Negotiation Committee) for youth and community workers.

We are an NOCN Approved Centre, running courses using a mix of online teaching, face to face sessions, and hands on experience (we can help you find a placement if required).

The next Level 2 course starts on 9th March 2024 for 12 weeks until June. Those who want to progress further can continue on to Level 3 straight after, which finishes on 29 November 2024.

Learners will attend weekly sessions on Zoom on either Thursday 6-9pm, or Friday 9.30am – 12.30pm.  There will be 2 x face to face Saturday sessions in the Level 2, and an additional  2 x face to face Saturday sessions in the Level 3.

The courses are open to everyone, and will set you up for a fulfilling career in youth work. What is learnt makes an impact, as seen by these quotes from managers and learners alike.

“I have seen a big difference in how sessions are run and how young people are having a better input to what they want to do, which is vital in youth work.” MANAGER 2022
“I am so grateful that I have had the chance to do this training.
It has helped my confidence and ability to work effectively with young people.”
